Hello everybody. Have you ever wanted to travel the world so bad but remembered that you're Turkish? Well, it happens to me all-the-damn-time. Applying for a visa and getting it is pretty annoying for the citizens of Türkiye. I guess that's a reality that we are well adapted to. Europe is also so expensive in the means of currency.
Negativity of the topic aside, traveling is a rewarding experience in every aspect. Today's topic revolves around AR&VR, specifically traveling. But virtually, for those that cannot afford it (me). Let me explain.
AR and VR are two options that have the ability to integrate real-life into digital life. You can explore other countries, any museum that is located anywhere in the world or simply your cities' unknown buildings just by tapping on your phone. Let's test it: Go to your search engine, type "Çamlıca Kule - İBB" and click on the first link that comes up (You can also click on it here. Ssshhhhh.). Now, you have all of the Istanbul on your phone. It's that easy! If you are the type of person that enjoys traveling but cannot bother, definitely try such websites.
When we were asked to prepare a lesson/worksheet to get students used to AR/VR, we thought that Copenhagen would be a good place to explore. There were many options regarding VR usage (360 videos) and we chose 3 places to recommend: Tivoli Gardens, The Little Mermaid Statue and The National Museum of Denmark. We also introduced Smørrebrød, a national Danish dish. To have a variety of options to reach to video materials, we put a QR code at the top of every page and also linked the videos/sites on the pictures. Made by my friends İlayda, Melike and I, here is a glimpse of our work:
