Hello folks! Happy holiday season.

I have been a student most of my life. It has approximately been 15 years that I'm spending more time at school than at home. And there was always this question in my head: What is it like being a student abroad? What is it like learning with other approaches? I have always been curious about different approaches students were taught with. Now, I have the opportunity to dive into an approach that I myself have never experienced before. It's called a "Flipped Classroom" approach. Let me explain.

So this approach differs from a traditional Turkish approach in this sense: instead of teacher explaining the subject of the day with a board/marker in the classroom, he/she records a video about the subject. Students are expected to watch the video beforehand. When they come in the class, they exercise what they have learned about the subject. The learning process is often enhanced with additional activities and handouts.

This is unorthodox for an education system like Turkish as well as most of the world. But it is pretty productive once the students get used to it.

My friends İlayda, Melike and I prepared a flipped lesson for you. It was so much fun- editing was not but the brainstorm process and writing the script were. Our supposed audience is 5th graders studying in a state school and the class is on the Unit 5. In addition to the video, we also prepared a matching activity.

OH LOOK, below is also our video! Also, join the championship for the fastest learner with scanning the QR code at the end of the video. Have fun!

See you in the next post! Take care and don't get sick in this cold weather. Otherwise it's so much work....
